One of the biggest and more recent threats to your PC and it's data is Ransomware. It's a type of Malware that gets onto your computer via email, downloads, infected removable drives, infected software or websites. It locks all your data and software as well as your PC via it's operating system (e.g. Microsoft Windows) and holds it ransom until you pay someone literally thousands of $Dollars$ ... and even then, you may not get it all unlocked as there are many scams out there! Your only other alternative is to completely wipe your PC and reinstall everything from scratch instead of paying the ransom ... but even if you have a backup of your data, how current is it?? How many days/weeks/months or more of work would you lose in lost data? Do you have current backups of all your software? How many hours would it take you to reinstall Windows, your software and restore all it's data? How long would it take you to put back all the customizations you had? Here's a lot of what you need to know! For more information on how to protect yourself, call or email The GoTo Tech Guru!

Apple just announced the new iPhone 7 !!! The new iPhone 7 camera features optical image stabilization, a wider aperture to let in more light, a high-speed sensor, new true-tone flash, and a new image signal processor. As expected, the iPhone 7 Plus features two 12 MP cameras – one featuring a wide angle lens and one featuring a telephoto lens, allowing true optical zoom up to 2x and software zooming up to 10x, as well as the new ability to take photos with a shallow depth of field for stunning portraits. The new Retina display is 25% brighter, and features a wide color gamut with cinema standard colors, as well as the 3D Touch layer. The phone is splash and water resistant (not waterproof) and features stereo speakers with a huge jump forward in audio quality. Both phones feature speakers on both the top and the bottom of the device, providing the user with twice the volume and improved sound quality with an increased dynamic range. The iPhone 7 features LTE Advanced, with speeds up to 450 Mbps for data downloads — over 50 percent faster than iPhone 6s and three times faster than iPhone 6. And thanks to even more LTE bands, you’ll have the best worldwide roaming available in a smartphone. A new A10 Fusion chip - 64-bit, four-core CPU offers 40% faster processing than Apple’s A9 chip, runs at 1/5th the power, providing the iPhone 7 on average 2 hours more battery life than the iPhone 6s, and a new GPU, which is 50% faster than the GPU found on the A9 chip. Probably the most controversial aspect of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus has been Apple’s decision to axe the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack found on every previous version of the iPhone (and iPod, and almost every other audio-capable device in the past hundred years). The devices will be available for pre-order on September 9, and will begin shipping on September 16. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is available with iOS 10 in the following models: 32GB, 128GB, 256GB. ... There a lot of controversy over whether the iPhone or Android mobile phones are better. At its most basic and fundamental level, the iPhone was designed around security and being intuitive so it's easy to learn and use. The iPhone Operating System (OS), aka iOS, is what's called a closed OS vs. Android's open OS. The latter allows anyone to see its program code and find its vulnerabilities, which is extremely difficult to do with a closed OS. No OS is hack-proof, but why make it easy for hackers by handing them the keys? All iPhone apps are reviewed by Apple for backdoors, hacks, viruses and malware before being released for distribution in iTunes. iPhone apps can only be purchased via iTunes. These are not the case with Android apps, which have no central "police'g", so anyone can write an app to do anything, including turning on your phone's microphone, while the phone is idley sitting on your desk or dinner table, to listen in on your calls! Yes, it's true! There are many, many more reasons which you can read about here and here.

Do you print a lot and spend too much $$$ on inkjet ink? There's a solution -- Continuous Ink Systems (CIS). The system consists of a reservoir that contains 10-25 times the amount of ink in a standard inkjet cartridge at a fraction of the cost. Each standard OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) ink cartridge usually contains 5-10 ml of ink while each of the CIS ink reservoirs can contain up to 50 ml. There is a big savings on ink. A standard set of five (5) OEM ink cartridges usually costs $80-$90. A set of five (5) CIS ink bottles, each containing as much as 10x the amount of ink costs 50% less!
